Why I cannot write a Memorial Day Poem …
It seems to me that
Memorial Day should be every day
...not just once a year
Granted it is a special day
set aside to gather in honor
of those who gave all
but we should remember each day
that we are the 'protected'
and that our debt can never be fully paid
There is no price put on it, save remembrance
and the honoring of the 'protectors'
One should not live their life in sorrow
... and I do not
I live in gratefulness...
and thanksgiving
and I shall always ...
always ...
revere those that have made it so
through their services and their sacrifices...
