Young Leroy Young

Young Leroy Young is having trouble with the revenuers again.  It seems last time he was caught down Pickford way.  It would have not been too bad, except for the fact he was driving Old Leroy Young's ‘52 Buick that he had borrowed for the night.  Before I go any further I have to tell you about Old Leroy Young's ‘52 Buick.

Old Leroy Young’s ‘52 Buick has been in the family since the end of ‘51.  Old Leroy Brown bought it off the showroom floor, took it home, and had stripped it down.  By the time Old Leroy Young got done with the ‘52 Buick, all that was left was the engine, the steering wheel, gas gauge and body.  The only thing for the seats was the orange crates that had been placed in the Buick to hold the moonshine.

For many years, Old Leroy Young had been running moonshine from Calhoun County down Pickford way.  For some strange reason, perhaps it was the money he paid the cops, he never got caught.  Perhaps it was, perhaps it was in the perhaps, to a Young Leroy Young's misfortune to run across an overzealous deputy who just had to make his mark in life by catching that ‘52 Buick and Young Leroy Young.

They say it was one hell of a chase and Young Leroy Young just about made it into Pickford before he got caught.  Young Leroy Young might have made it had it not been for the orange crate he was sitting on slipping out from the beneath him.  It was at that point that Young Leroy Young lost it entirely.  They were, so it goes, to the walls.

The overzealous deputy managed to run his brand new patrol car with only 75 miles on into the side of Young Leroy Young's ‘52 Buick.  Young Leroy Young, as luck would have it, was thrown out the passenger side window.  The overzealous deputy managed to get out of patrol car with 75 miles on it.  Now, I was not there, but I understand you could see the ball of flame 85 miles away in Jackson County.

Old Leroy Young is really ticked off.  He loved that ‘52 Buick - not to mention, that he just paid the cops off the night before.  Well, I guess its back to the ‘47 Ford that had preceded the ‘52 Buick.

For all of those that might be wondering, there was not enough left of either the ‘52 Buick or the patrol car with 75 miles on it to make a case against Young Leroy Young.  Old Leroy Young now has a new batch ready and should be shipping sometime next week.  He wants to make good and sure that overzealous deputy is elsewhere when he does ship.
